On 22 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius of Lithuania Landsbergis attended the United Nations Security Council high-level Arria-formula meeting on Media Freedom in Belarus. Lithuania's Foreign Minister called upon the Belarusian government to respect freedom of expression, and to end the arbitrary detention of journalists and all other media restrictions.

On the margins of the high-level General Debate of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly on 24 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended a virtual event commemorating the 15th anniversary of the adoption by heads of state and government of the responsibility to protect populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity at the United Nations World Summit in 2005.

On 4 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended an Arria-formula meeting at the UN Security Council to discuss human rights in Belarus. The meeting was organized on the initiative of Estonia.

On 13 July, at the 44th session of the Human Rights Council, the Permanent Representative of Lithuania, Ambassador Andrius Krivas took the floor in the interactive dialogue with the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers Diego García-Sayán and condemned Russia's actions against Lithuanian justice officials who had investigated the tragic and complex January 13 case.
