L. Linkevičius and India’s External Affairs Minister discuss challenges posed by pandemic, topical global policy issues
On 3 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and discussed challenges posed by the global pandemic, as well as other relevant issues of global policy and regional security.
L. Linkevičius congratulated his counterpart on India’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and noted that the world’s largest democracy had to play an important role in the world.
India's representative affirmed that, during this tenure in the UN Security Council, India would seek to help small countries to make their voices heard in the United Nations, and that multilateralism would remain among the most important values.
L. Linkevičius also reiterated his invitation for India’s External Affairs Minister to visit Lithuania. The Foreign Ministers discussed progress in developing cross-border and interinstitutional agreements, and other relevant bilateral issues.
